Lynn M. Gibson, Ed.D., CSBO
Dr. Gibson brings more than 30 years of educational leadership experience to the strategic planning process. She was trained in strategic planning in 1999 and has facilitated multiple plans in school districts and other organizations throughout the United States. She has been involved in all roles of the strategic planning process.
A native of Illinois, Dr. Gibson completed a Bachelor of Science in Education at Northern Illinois University. She taught high school business and mathematics classes and participated as a coach in various sports. While raising her family, she received a Masters of Science and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Northern Illinois University.
During her career, Dr. Gibson spent 10 years as a federal, state, corporate, and foundation grant writer. The majority of grants written were funded, and through her efforts with teams of educators, students and staff realized increased student achievement and greater understanding of the teaching and learning processes.
Dr. Gibson’s educational career spans from high school teacher through superintendent of schools. She spent the majority of her career in the Harlem Consolidated Schools and the Hononegah Community High School District, where she retired as superintendent.
Throughout that time, a successful referendum was passed to build a new fieldhouse, three strategic plans were implemented, a 10-year educational master facility plan was created, and student achievement continued to rise. Hononegah has consistently been named a top district in the state of Illinois and throughout the United States.
Upon retirement in 2018, Dr. Gibson became an Assistant Professor of Educational Leadership at Northern Illinois University and teaches graduate coursework for superintendents, principals, school finance personnel, and teachers.
She and her family live in Rockford, Illinois.
